About Us
This site is from the creators of Learning Teams Inc. We have been asked many times about merchandise for all things HOP and Learning Teams.
We have taken inspiration from the fictional character Jacopo Peterman on Seinfeld with the J Peterman Catalogue with classic stories like:
Picture, if you will, a store of such charm and peculiarity that it could only belong in the storied catalogue of J. Peterman. Welcome, dear traveler, to the "Emporium of Everyday Wisdom," a merchandise store that defies convention and delivers the unexpected—inspired entirely by the art and science of Human Organizational Performance (HOP). Yes, you read that correctly. This establishment embodies the philosophies of work, human fallibility, and improvement, all encased in leather-bound journals, enigmatic artifacts, and irresistible curiosities.
Upon entering, you will first encounter "The Dumb, Dangerous, Difficult, Different Collection". Imagine, if you will, a series of vividly-colored glass jars, each labeled with one of the infamous 4Ds. The Dumb Jar is a humble mason jar, within which one finds the things that never quite make sense—seeds of frustration that reveal themselves in normal work. Next to it is the Dangerous Jar—crafted from tempered glass—housing items that bring the subtle thrill of risk. The Difficult Jar stands out in elegant hand-blown crystal, representing the demanding circumstances one must navigate. And the Different Jar, oh, a kaleidoscopic piece—a reminder of all that is unexpected and ever-changing. Together, these vessels serve as a reminder: complexity and variability are always just a heartbeat away.
To your left, nestled by the bay window, is the "Learning Lounge." Here, one can find the "5 Principles of HOP" neatly framed, inviting discussion and contemplation. You see, the furniture here is not just for comfort—it is a deliberate invitation for the group to sit, ponder, and reflect together
A tapestry, handwoven by artisans from afar, reads: "Error is Normal, Blame Fixes Nothing." Here, we sip from artisanal mugs inscribed with phrases like "Context Drives Behavior" and "Learning and Improving is Vital." The mugs are meant to cradle your coffee as you cradle the thought—how does my response shape the team's future?
And at the far end of the store, beyond the rustic wood counter, lies a treasure of the utmost importance: "The Learning Teams Facilitator's Toolkit." A handsome, leather-bound kit filled with all the instruments one needs to "make something easier" or "help it run more smoothly." It includes a compass—symbolic, for sure—with a note that reads, "A facilitator doesn't chart the course but ensures the ship stays steady." The compass is balanced by a humble pencil, whose eraser is well-worn, reminding us that our greatest contributions are often the ones we had to refine.
The Emporium of Everyday Wisdom is more than a merchandise store. It is a living, breathing reflection of what it means to learn, to struggle, to accept that "error is normal," and to find solace in the understanding that, even in our failures, there is something beautiful to be gained. In this store, we don’t search for someone to blame, nor do we seek a root cause—we search for learning, for connection, and for the true richness that emerges when we allow each voice to add to the mosaic of shared human experience.
This is our range of sourced products, which are produced and fulfilled as orders are taken. We have kept the price as low as possible. With the margins on most products of $3 to $7 to pay for the shopfront, therefore no returns or refunds are available for these items.
